Fashion And Emotional Intelligence

The fashion industry is one that is fast moving and evolving all the time and new concepts in terms of the way in which it works creep into it now and again especially at the business end of things. In this article we are going to look at one such newish concept – emotional intelligence (EQ) business services.

Emotional intelligence is very simple to understand even if it may seem very complex at first. It is essentially identify the emotions of someone else and then taking a decision of following a course of action that relates to this. Indeed, being self-aware and being able to identify your own emotions is also a big part of what emotional intelligence is all about. Many businesses are now starting to use EI as a sales model especially in the fashion industry. If you can create a bond between the company and the consumer then you have a much higher chance of retaining that customer for the long term. This means that instead of telling them what to buy you listen, perceive how they are feeling and then make a recommendation and suggestion on what is best for them. Essentially good customer service but for the customer and not just the company.

There have been a few studies into the way in which emotional intelligence can benefit sales. L’Oreal being the most high profile one in that the staff that were hired because of their EQ levels generally did far better than the ones hired through more traditional techniques and criteria. However there is still studies ongoing into the full benefits of using EI. That being said, it is taking a hold on the fashion industry and many labels are now employing these techniques in order to create a more loyal and long term fan and customer base.
